For those of you familiar with the caches in Ellen Trout Park next to the zoo in Lufkin, you may or may not know that a pair of Bald Eagles nested there last year, very close to the caches. They, unfortunately failed to raise any young last year. This year they returned and they have a chick that's done great. I checked on it a couple of days ago and it's huge now and perching up on the edge of the nest. It should be flying very soon. So, if you're out that way, look up once in a while. Not all those big birds flying around up there are vultures. You may just catch a glimpse of one or two Bald Eagles. The adults are often perched in a pine across the lake (I know, there are LOTS of pine trees over there but they have a favourite one) and can be seen fishing from time to time.
I can stop anytime, it's my dogs that are hopelessly addicted
